Cheryl has shared with us some more great FNMI Resources

Forward Thinking Speaker Series:  Edmonton Public Library is proud to present Dr. Dawn Lavell Harvard:  Empowering Canada’s Aboriginal Women on Wednesday, December 2 at 6:30 pm in the Stanley A. Milner Library Theatre as part of the Forward Thinking Speaker Series.  Dr. Lavell Harvard will share ways that Edmontonians can help make a difference  with the challenges, such as violence and abuse, that Canada’s aboriginal women face.  Click here for more information on this free series

This EPSB resource (link to google drive folder here) has been developed for high school, but LA teachers might see some useful ideas to adapt to the many resources we have in our LLC at a grade appropriate level:   in Indian English Language Arts 10, 20, 30 Educators' Resource explores the anthology Dreaming in Indian: Contemporary Native Voices with respect to the Program of Studies for English Language Arts 10, 20, 30.  Novels, poetry, drama, fiction, and essays by First Nations, Métis, and Inuit authors is included for deeper understanding.  Class sets of this resource, including many others, such as Fatty Legs, Stranger at Home and Lightfinder are available to borrow from First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Education.  Please contactnashiban.jina@eps.ca for ordering information.
